Practicing turns and staying on top of your dancers’ turn technique during quarantine is hard! I get it.
I have judged virtual tryouts where dancers are literally doing turns on concrete, grass, or pavers in their yard. I find myself thinking, “Dannnggg girl. . . that’s a pretty solid triple for being in Nikes on the concrete outside at the park!”
I also find myself thinking, “You know you can get a portable dance floor for your home right?”
There are countless portable dance floors that you can set up anywhere and practice turns. Most are marley, some are wood. You can put them on the concrete, the grass, or on the pavers in your yard. You can do pirouettes on them AND you can do a la seconde turns on them.
Here are a couple on Amazon:
Now, I’ve also seen plenty of virtual tryout videos where dancers have an awesome wood or tile spot in their house where they can practice turns. Awesome. If you or your dancers don’t have that, and turns need to be worked, I hope this post helps you!
